About the Maker (former version)
Corey Sweeney has been making reeds for others since 2015. She started learning the trade in 2004 as part of her oboe studies and later discovered a passion for it that developed until she preferred spending time at her reed desk to practicing! She recently moved back to New Hampshire from Albuquerque, New Mexico where she worked as a reed maker and freelance musician.
Corey earned her MM in Oboe Performance from the University of New Mexico in 2018 and her BM in Oboe Performance from the University of New Hampshire in 2010. Her primary teachers throughout her education were Dr. Kevin Vigneau, Martin Schuring, and Margaret Herlehy, with additional instruction from Stuart Dunkel, Gonzalo Ruiz, Ann Rosandich, and Dominique Dournaud.
In addition to reed making, Corey is passionate about period instrument performance of baroque music. She added a baroque oboe to her menagerie of modern instruments in 2017 and hasn’t looked back!
